STATE POLLS | Incumbent Ampangan assemblyperson Mohamad Rafie Abdul Malek will contest as an independent to defend the seat.
This comes after the Negeri Sembilan PKR leader was dropped from the party's candidates' line-up for the Aug 12 poll.
According to Berita Harian, the Ampangan state seat will witness a three-cornered clash between Rafie, Pakatan Harapan/PKR's Tengku Zamrah Tengku Sulaiman who replaced him, and Perikatan Nasional candidate Muhammad Ghazali Zainal Abidin.
In the 14th general election, Rafie carried the Ampangan state seat with a 1,360-vote majority.
Earlier this week, Rafie, a former state executive councillor, hit out at the PKR leadership over the decision not to let him defend the seat in the upcoming polls.
He said it was common knowledge that he had worked hard to help people in the constituency and develop the state.
The Seremban PKR deputy chief further alleged a "certain individual" of trying to remove him from the state administration. - Mkini
