Muhyiddin: Don't question PN's funds for polls, they're from rakyat

Opponents of Perikatan Nasional (PN) should not question the source of the coalition’s funds for the state elections.

This is because the money did not come from any illegitimate source, said PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Our accounts have been frozen… the campaign funds were channelled by the rakyat to help Bersatu and PN.

“Why should we question the people’s contribution to PN? I don’t question how much they spent,” the Bersatu president said, in reference to Pakatan Harapan and BN.

He was met this morning at SMK Sungai Pusu in Gombak, Selangor, during the nomination process for the state election on Aug 12.

In May, the High Court in Kuala Lumpur granted leave for Bersatu to proceed with its legal bid to unfreeze the party’s two bank accounts.

Muhyiddin was present at the nomination centre to provide support for PN candidates Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is contesting the Hulu Kelang state seat, Muhammad Hanif Jamaluddin (Sungai Tua), and Muhammad Hilman Idham (Gombak Setia).

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin slammed the government for announcing cash incentives in the lead-up to the state elections and questioned where the money was coming from.

“Now, suddenly you have money. See, this is what (Prime Minister) Anwar Ibrahim does all the time. He makes promises after promises when people are waiting for aid, but nothing comes.

“Then with two weeks left for the elections, all this happens,” said the Pagoh MP. - Mkini
