PH replaces candidate for Kota Damansara, Aidi Amin dropped

PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan has named Izuan Ahmad Kasim as its candidate to defend the Kota Damansara seat in the Selangor elections, confirming speculation that its initial choice had been dropped.

In a brief statement late last night, Selangor PKR chief Amirudin Shari said party president Anwar Ibrahim had handed Izuan his letter of appointment to contest in the Aug 12 polls.

Amirudin thanked Aidi Amin Yazid, named a few days ago as the candidate for the seat, for his “service and dedication”.

He also urged PKR members “to convince as many voters as they can to support Izuan.”

Yesterday, Amirudin said he was in the dark over claims that there would be a last-minute change of candidates and said he would refer the matter to Anwar, Kosmo reported.

“I don’t know anything about it, I would need to ask Datuk Seri Anwar,” he was quoted as saying.

The seat was won by Shatiri Mansor in the 2018 general election (GE14) with a 15,703-vote majority in a four-cornered contest.

It was previously reported that Shatiri would be dropped in favour of a fresh face.

Izuan is expected to go up against Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) secretary-general A Sivarajan and Perikatan Nasional’s Radzlan Jalaludin. - FMT
