Fahmi unveils 5G Rahmah plan with RM240 phone or less

Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has announced a Rahmah 5G device and data plan for the public in conjunction with Merdeka Day.

The 5G Rahmah package involves a 60GB data plan at RM60 a month, as well as a smartphone priced up to no more than RM240.

Berita Harian reported that the devices would be priced at a 75 percent discount compared to their market value.

Fahmi said this included the Samsung A14 5G or Honor 90 Lite 5G at a price of RM240, compared to its market price of RM949 and RM1,099 respectively.

He added that the first 100,000 subscribers from the B40 income group are eligible to receive an additional RM120 subsidy on the price of a smartphone.

The 5G Rahmah package will be available from Aug 31 to Dec 31 and all subscribers are subject to a 24-month contract.

For civil servants with postpaid packages above RM60, they will be offered a RM10 rebate on their monthly bill for a period of 12 months.

This incentive is offered from Sept 16 to Dec 31.

The ministry said that all further terms and conditions can be found on the website of network providers CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, TM (Unifi Mobile) and YTL Communications (Yes).
