Pharmacy assistant charged with causing death of disabled sister

SUNGAI PETANI: A pharmacy assistant at a private hospital was charged at the magistrates’ court here today with causing the death of her younger disabled sister.

Nur Syuhaidah Sani, 36, nodded in understanding after the charges were read before magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani.

According to the charge sheet, Syuhaidah is alleged to have deliberately caused the death of Fatin, 29, at a house in Residensi Prima Puteri Jaya, between 5.30pm on Nov 6 and 11.30am on Nov 20.

She was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for the death penalty or up to 40 years’ imprisonment, and no less than 12 strokes of the cane.

Deputy public prosecutor Amirul Halimi Salleh appeared for the prosecution while the accused was not represented.

No bail was offered to the accused. The court fixed Jan 31 for remention pending the chemical and post-mortem reports.

The media previously reported that a disabled woman was found dead in a room that she rented with her sister in Bandar Puteri Jaya, here, on Nov 20. - FMT
