UPM kemudiannya mengeluarkan kenyataan mempertahankan R...ta dan H..him, dengan mengatakan bahawa artikel yang diterbitkan telah melalui penilaian rakan akademik (peer review).

Ahli sejarah itu mendakwa ramai ahli akademik Malaysia telah menerbitkan artikel mereka dalam jurnal pemangsa atau palsu.

Mungkin, Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi harus mengambil inisiatif untuk mengenal pasti dan menyenaraihitamkan jurnal pemangsa, dan melarang sekeras-kerasnya ahli akademik Malaysia menerbitkan karya mereka dalam jurnal tersebut."

Seorang ahli sejarah menggesa UPM menyiasat artikel jurnal mengenai sejarah maritim Melayu yang ditulis oleh dua ahli akademiknya, yang didakwa memberikan fakta yang salah.

Muzium Bahari di Jakarta secara rasmi menafikan bahawa model jong Melayu - yang dikatakan oleh dua penyelidik itu dipamerkan di muziumnya - adalah sebahagian daripada koleksinya.

Ranjit Singh Malhi berkata integriti ahli akademik berkenaan telah "dipersoalkan dengan serius" berikutan penyangkalan itu.

Menurut Ranjit, ini lebih-lebih lagi selepas salah seorang penyelidik memberitahu bahawa dia telah melawat Muzium Bahari secara peribadi dan melihat model itu dipamerkan di sana.

"R...ta C.e R..i, dalam catatan Facebook, mendakwa dia telah 'melawat muzium secara peribadi dan melihat model itu dipamerkan'.

“Muzium Bahari kini mengesahkan bahawa jong berkenaan bukan sebahagian daripada koleksinya dan ia lebih menyerupai jong Cina.

“Justeru, integriti akademik R...ta yang menjadi jiwa ahli akademik dipersoalkan secara serius.

“UPM tidak mempunyai pilihan selain segera menjalankan siasatan bagi memastikan kebenaran, ia perlu untuk menjaga reputasinya,” katanya.

Ranjit merujuk kepada komen Facebook oleh R...ta pada 21 Jan, apabila dia mempertahankan gambar kapal dalam kertas penyelidikan bertajuk The Jongs and The Galleys: Traditional Ships of The Past Malay Maritime Civilization.

Artikel yang diterbitkan dalam International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences, Vol.13, Issue 11, 2023 ditulis oleh R...ta dan H..him M..a.

"Jong di muka surat 11 ialah model yang ditemui di Muzium Bahari Jakarta. Penulis melawat muzium itu sendiri dan melihat model itu dipamerkan. Mungkin juga terdapat di muzium lain," tulis R...ta di ruangan komen ahli sejarah Perancis Serge Jardin (bawah).

 

Jardin mendakwa gambar yang disiarkan dalam artikel itu bukan jong Melayu sebaliknya kapal Foochow (bawah). 

 

UPM kemudiannya mengeluarkan kenyataan mempertahankan R...ta dan H..him, dengan mengatakan bahawa artikel yang diterbitkan telah melalui penilaian rakan akademik (peer review).

Semalam, Malaysiakini melaporkan penjelasan Muzium Bahari, yang menafikan bahawa gambar jong Melayu yang digunakan dalam artikel itu adalah sebahagian daripada koleksinya.

Sementara itu, Ranjit turut menggesa Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi mengenal pasti dan menyenaraihitamkan jurnal berkenaan.

Ahli sejarah itu mendakwa ramai ahli akademik Malaysia telah menerbitkan artikel mereka dalam jurnal pemangsa atau palsu.

“Malangnya, sebilangan besar ahli akademik Malaysia (terutamanya sarjana muda dan tidak berpengalaman) bersalah kerana menerbitkan artikel mereka, yang sering kurang mendalam dan tidak menyumbang kepada pengetahuan baru, dalam jurnal pemangsa atau palsu.

"Mungkin, Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi harus mengambil inisiatif untuk mengenal pasti dan menyenaraihitamkan jurnal pemangsa, dan melarang sekeras-kerasnya ahli akademik Malaysia menerbitkan karya mereka dalam jurnal tersebut."

 
My Comments : My good friend Brader Zambry Abdul Kader  (Minister of Higher Education) please allow me to make a carefully researched, historical statement which has been fully peer reviewed - your party UMNO is dead.  It is a dead party. In 2009 you lost the 2/3 majority, then in 2014 you performed worse and finally in 2018 you got kicked out. In 2022 UMNO won just over 20 seats. Its worse performance.

In the last elections in SIX States UMNO was wiped out, including in Selangor. Believe me Brader your party is dead.  But Malaysia Boleh and you are still in government because your party was able to cut a deal with your political opponents including the DAP_gs.

But please believe me in the next general elections it is not impossible that you may end up with just TWO Parliamentary seats. That DNAA of 47 corruption charges against you-know-who has caused your party very dearly. Now all this talk about Bossku taking the catwalk again with the wife following closely on a broomstick is going to cost you even more votes.

The reason your party has become so unpopular (other than all the Court appearances) is because of gross incompetence, buffoonery and plain stupidity in mismanaging the country.

This news report above in Malaysiakini is just one example. This comical and unimaginable childishness which they call scholarship is now becoming the norm among gomen academics and gomen academia.

5. Vice Chancellor of yet another IPTA published 72 articles in a "predatory" journal

and now an Indonesian Maritime Museum "Muzium Bahari kini mengesahkan bahawa jong berkenaan bukan sebahagian daripada koleksinya"

The saddest thing about this "jong Melayu" thing is that the university issued a statement defending the spurious claim !!

There is also the cheap, low class, academic dishonesty whereby professors in IPTAs who are supervising PhD candidates insist that the student includes the professor or supervisors name as one of the authors of his research paper. In this way the professor / supervisor also claims credit for the research and can include the research paper in his own CV !! Ini macam pun boleh kah Brader Zambry? 

If the professor or supervisor's own name is included in the students research paper then surely the professor / supervisor will award the highest grade for the research. The professor / supervisor will give the paper First Class Honours, Cap Ayam Super Grade A, Cap Kambing Gold Medal Award. Takkan the professor / supervisor will award Cap Ayam Grade B or Grade C to a research paper where his own name is included as one of the authors.  

Please dont say that University Tongkang and University Sampan in the Republic of Bong-Bong also do the same thing. Kita dah lama turun pokok. 

So Brader Zambry as the Minister in charge you had better do something to arrest and reverse this situation.

As a first step you may want to consider talking to genuine academics of a different feather. Do not look for birds of the same feather - they tend to flock together.

Try looking for birds of a different feather. They may give you better feedback and insight into what is really going on.
