PETALING JAYA: Kelantan Bersatu says its three remaining MPs in the state would not be throwing support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, unlike two others who have done so.

Kelantan Bersatu chief Kamarudin Nor said he had contacted the three MPs, namely Khlir Nor (Kerteh), Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz (Tanah Merah), and Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (Machang) after Bukit Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal’s press conference today.

Kamarudin noted that the MPs for Gua Musang (Azizi Abu Naim) and Jeli (Zahari Kechik) had previously declared support for Anwar.

“As for the remaining three, Ketereh, Tanah Merah, and Machang, I dare to guarantee that they would not do the same thing,” Kamarudin was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian.

He also said the Bersatu Supreme Council will soon convene a meeting to discuss the actions to be taken against the MPs who have declared their support for Anwar.

On Wednesday, Tanjong Karang MP Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi became the sixth Bersatu MP to declare support for Anwar.

The others are Syed Hussin, Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Azizi and Zahari.

All six MPs cited their constituencies’ needs and support for the federal government’s policies.

Earlier today, Syed Hussin had claimed that more Bersatu MPs would be declaring their support for the unity government by the time Parliament reconvenes on Feb 26. - FMT
