Umno man: If PN's 'changing govt' plan a TV drama, viewers would tune out

Perikatan Nasional talking about changing the government is like an often repeated soap opera, said Kedah Umno information chief Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin.

If the plan was indeed a TV drama, he said viewers would have tuned out a long time ago out of boredom.

"Them (PN) talking about the government is nothing new. If it was a TV drama, viewers would have changed the channel because the script is the same.

"PN talked about changing the government during the six state elections. It has been 145 days since, but did anything happen? Nothing.

"In fact, after the state polls, they (PN) uploaded a countdown post on social media claiming there will be a change of government on Aug 31, but now Dec 31 has passed, and nothing has happened," Shaiful (above) said in a statement today.

On the contrary, what happened instead was that several Bersatu MPs voiced their support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, he added.

"The support for Anwar is increasing, and their (PN) support is going down."

Shaiful was commenting on Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor's remark that PN's constant attempts to topple the government were allowed under the Constitution.

Shaiful pointed out that the failed Dubai Move was embarrassing for PN.

The Merbok Umno chief stressed that the government was "very stable" as all the component parties, including Umno, have pledged support for the administration and vowed to stick with the Madani government.

‘Power crazy’

Kelantan Umno deputy information chief Noor Hariri Mohamed Noor said that Sanusi’s statement only proved PN was “power crazy”.

He then urged PN leaders to focus on administering the four states helmed by the coalition.

“Be a ‘gentleman’ and stop this unnecessary political manoeuvring. The people are watching.

“Give the unity government space to fulfil its responsibility and wait for the next general election,” he told Malaysiakini.

Hariri reminded the opposition that such moves would bring political instability, which would not benefit the country.

“The people have grown tired (of politicking) and I urge PN to respect the decision made by voters in the last general election,” he stressed. - Mkini
