Man arrested for allegedly pushing lover from 23rd floor

PETALING JAYA: Police arrested a man yesterday on suspicion of pushing his lover off the 23rd floor of a condominium complex in Setia Alam, Selangor.

Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said police received a report about the incident, which had gone viral on social media, at around 10.02pm yesterday.

“The police investigation found that the deceased was a 32-year-old female Thai national who was unemployed. The deceased and the suspect in this case were lovers,” he said in a statement.

“Witnesses reported a fight between the deceased and the suspect at the time of the incident. The deceased was seen being pushed from the 23rd floor, and fell to the seventh floor of the condominium.”

Iqbal said the 37-year-old suspect was arrested at the condominium that same night and tested positive for cannabis during a urine screening.

He added that the suspect works as a lorry driver and has a criminal record, including of drug-related offences.

“The suspect will be remanded today at 9am at the Shah Alam court,” he said.

Investigations are being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty, or up to 40 years in jail and whipping, upon conviction. - FMT
