PETALING JAYA: Immigration department officers in Johor detained 54 suspected call girls of various nationalities at an entertainment centre in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru, at midnight yesterday.

Johor immigration director Baharuddin Tahir said 63 people, aged 19 to 49, were arrested.

“They included 48 women and two men from Vietnam; three Thai women; one woman and one man from Indonesia; two Chinese nationals; and three Nepali men.

“The women were suspected to be call girls, while the rest were workers,” he said in a statement.

Baharuddin said some of the suspects had abused their social or work passes, while the others had no valid documents.

He said the women received at least RM20 commission for drinks ordered by customers and extra commission for any rooms booked.

Baharuddin added that one local man and two local women were arrested, believed to be caretakers and supervisors of the premises.

He said the foreign nationals were held at the immigration detention centre at Setia Tropika. - FMT
