Pact on Indonesian migrant workers to be reviewed

 

Indonesia’s manpower minister hopes Malaysia will improve its foreign labour policies to safeguard the welfare and protection of Indonesian migrant workers.

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia and Indonesia have agreed to renew a longstanding agreement on Indonesian foreign workers, according to the Indonesian manpower minister.

In a statement released in Jakarta, Ida Fauziyah said the agreement would be reviewed to keep up with current conditions and developments.

Fauziyah said she had discussions in Kuala Lumpur with human resources minister Steven Sim on Sunday to discuss issues involving migrant workers.

She hoped that Sim would improve on Malaysia’s foreign labour policies to safeguard the welfare and protection of Indonesian migrant workers, Bernama reported. - FMT
