PN not worried about Mahathir's prediction on DAP win - Azmin

KKB BY-ELECTION | Perikatan Nasional has dismissed Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s prediction that Pakatan Harapan will win the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

Voters will determine the outcome, not the former premier, Selangor PN chairperson Azmin Ali said.

“That is Mahathir’s view. We respect his view as a national political figure.

"But what determines the victory is the voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu,” he told reporters yesterday.

Azmin (above, right) added that his party is going on the ground to speak to voters and convince them about their policies.

"In the end, the voters will decide, and I am sure they are mature, especially young people who have access to information through the internet and so on," he said.

Previously, it was reported that Mahathir had predicted a victory for Pakatan Harapan in the upcoming by-election following the split among Malay voters.

Four-cornered fight

Kuala Kubu Baharu will be seeing a four-cornered fight between Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao from DAP, PN candidate Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainudin, and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

Kuala Kubu Baharu is known as a mixed seat due to its demographic breakdown of 46 percent Malay voters, 30 percent Chinese, 18 percent Indian and six percent other races.

A total of 40,226 people are eligible to cast votes in this by-election.

Of that number, 39,362 are ordinary voters, 238 are military personnel and their spouses, 625 police personnel, and one overseas absentee voter.

The by-election will be held on May 11, while the early voting date is set for May 7. - Mkini
