PETALING JAYA: Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh will proceed with legal action against a writer of an article he deemed defamatory, despite the latter’s apology.

In a brief Facebook post, Akmal thanked the writer for the apology over the “malicious slander”.

“Damage has been done. We will meet in court,” he said.

He shared a screenshot of the apology published on the news aggregator site, Newswav.

On Saturday, Akmal demanded Newswav and the writer remove the article and issue an “unreserved apology” within 24 hours.

According to Akmal, the article had claimed that he was facing corruption charges, which he denied.

“This is a malicious claim which is intended to smear me,” he said, adding that the article had damaged his credibility and reputation. - FMT
