Did PM, wife, also betray govt bill, Ka Siong asks Lip Eng

MCA president Wee Ka Siong has turned the tables on DAP lawmaker Lim Lip Eng after the latter accused MCA MPs of boycotting a government bill.

In a Facebook post today, Ka Siong (above) questioned Lim’s logic in asking for MCA’s two MPs to be grouped with the opposition for missing a bloc vote when other government MPs were also absent.

Those absent, Ka Siong pointed out, include Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Other parliamentarians absent include Deputy Prime Ministers Ahmad Zahdi Hamidi and Fadillah Yusof, ministers Mohamad Hasan and Nga Kor Ming, as well as Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

“In total 66 MPs were not present for yesterday’s bloc vote. So why is DAP picking on two MPs from MCA?” Ka Siong asked.

Probe absence

Yesterday, a bloc vote was called on the Dewan Rakyat at the end of the second reading of the bill to dissolve the Malaysian Aviation Commission.

While the vote was won with 93 in favour, and 63 against, Lim had called out the absence of Ka Siong and Wee Jeck Seng.

Lim urged Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul to investigate whether the two Wees were purposely boycotting or refusing to back a government bill.

He said if this was found to be true, then the two MCA lawmakers should be moved to the opposition bloc.

In his posting today, Ka Siong questioned whether Anwar and the other government lawmakers absent from yesterday’s vote also needed to be moved as per Lim’s logic.

“Kepong must think reasonably before speaking,” he added.

His posting closed with the hashtag #DAPConsistentlyInconsistent.

DAP and MCA are both members of the coalition government.

However, their alliance remains uneasy at best, as both sides have continued to be hostile to each other. - Mkini
