US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin initiates first ever phone call to the Russian Minister of Defense specifically to discuss the war in Ukraine.

Suddenly Lloyd Austin emphasised the importance of maintaining open communications with Russia.

Of course they also discussed other issues - most likely the removal of all economic sanctions against Russia, the unfreezing of Russian assets  and that Ukraine shall not join NATO.

Most importantly soon after Lloyd Austin's phone call to Russia a special Russian government airplane took off from Moscow headed for New York.  Who was on board? Lavrov? Meaning they are establishing direct contact.
