PETALING JAYA: Ismail Sabri Yaakob said a recent luncheon with Saudi Arabia’s crown prince and prime minister Mohammed bin Salman was proof of Malaysia’s close relationship with the kingdom.
In a Facebook post, the former prime minister said he had been invited to dine with Mohammed at the latter’s palace in Mina, near Mecca.
Other guests included leaders from various countries who were performing their haj, he said.
Ismail added that Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul was also invited to represent Malaysia.
“I would like to thank Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for extending the invitation.
“This symbolises the brotherhood between Malaysia and Saudi Arabia.”
In April, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed that Mohammed had expressed his intention to make an official visit to Malaysia by year end. - FMT
