Previously, road safety experts had urged Putrajaya to halt offering discounts for traffic summonses, saying it would only make drivers disregard traffic laws.
However, police said these discounts encourage more traffic offenders to settle their outstanding summonses.
Most recently, police offered a 50% discount on traffic summonses during a three-day event in December to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Madani government.
However, the long queues left hundreds frustrated and waiting for hours to pay the discounted rates. - FMT
