ANOTHER SINKHOLE IN JLN MASJID INDIA

Well another sinkhole has appeared along Jalan Masjid India. It appears to be along a straight line from the previous sinkhole. The Police said that there was another sinkhole there last year. That is THREE occurrences within one year.

I have already posted about the sinkholes that appeared in that part of Jalan Masjid India more than 10 years ago. A huge underground pipe used to leak. The problem stopped when they fully replaced a portion of that steel pipe.

Here is Bernama :

Below here is a NST graphic (dated 27/8/24) of the first sinkhole which swallowed up the unfortunate victim.

NST says, 'A portion of the concrete sewer pipe was broken suggesting that the victim may have fallen into it'.  NST also shows that the concrete sewer pipe is 1.5 meters in diameter. That is a large pipe.

When or how long has that pipe been broken? The question is has that broken sewer pipe been repaired?  As I mentioned before, sinkholes are usually caused by underground water seepage.

This problem seems to be concentrated along a very short stretch of the road - less than 100 meters. A quick engineering survey followed by permanent repair is needed.
