Flash floods hit Jalan Kebun, Sri Muda and Kota Kemuning after continuous rain

Netizens shared videos and images showing major roads around Jalan Kebun and Kota Kemuning, including near SK Padang Jawa and SK Kota Kemuning, submerged in floodwaters.

Several low-lying areas around Jalan Kebun, Sri Muda and Kota Kemuning in Shah Alam, Selangor, were hit by flash floods following continuous heavy rain since 2pm today.

Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar was quoted by Berita Harian as saying that in some locations, floodwaters reached a depth of 0.6m.

He said his team monitored the situation on Jalan Kebun, while a team from the Sri Andalas fire and rescue station was sent to Kota Kemuning.

So far, the situation is under control, no evacuations have been made, and the water has receded. Our personnel are carrying out monitoring activities in the flood-affected areas,
 he said.

Many vehicles were also trapped in the floods.

In a Facebook post, Lembaga Zakat Selangor said its senior care home Bait Al-Mawaddah, located on Jalan Kebun, was also affected by the flash floods.

Last Friday, the meteorological department announced that the monsoon transition phase is expected to begin today and will continue until November.

Today, the department issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in nearly all states until 5pm. - FMT
