A large pothole has been discovered near the entrance to the Bunga Raya Complex at KLIA, the works ministry said today.

The ministry said the pothole, estimated to be 5m-wide and 1m-deep, was located at the paved area between the entrance and exit of the complex which is used by VIPs arriving at or departing from the airport.

The road remains accessible to all vehicles,
it said in a Facebook post.

However, a traffic management plan has been implemented in the pothole area.

The ministry also said Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, which discovered the pothole, was investigating whether a suspected sewage pipe leak was the cause of it.

A detailed report will be issued by MAHB when the investigation is completed.

Meanwhile, Berita Harian reported that assessment and repair work on the pothole will commence this afternoon.

This area is managed by MAHB, which is already aware of the situation and conducted inspections earlier today,
KLIA police chief Azman Shari’at was quoted as saying.

This afternoon, they will take action to assess the actual cause of the incident and develop a solution for future repairs. - FMT
