Perlis mufti Asri Zainul Abidin said they wanted to help the former GISBH member to live a proper life and re-enter society, without the influence of the group’s teachings.

KANGAR
The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) provided RM5,000 in zakat donation today to a former Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH) member to help him begin a new life.

Perlis mufti Asri Zainul Abidin said the council stepped forward to help the former GISBH member to live a proper life and re-enter society, free from the influence of the group’s teachings.

The allocation is part of the decision agreed upon by the Perlis fatwa committee and is in line with the state fatwa declaring GISBH’s teachings as being deviant,

he told reporters after presenting the donation here today with MAIPs CEO Nazim Noor.

The man, who only wished to be known as Ahmad, 33, from Johor, left GISBH in 2021.

“Ahmad is one of the first individuals to receive the council’s aid.

I hope more will follow, whether from Perlis or other states, and leave the GISBH lifestyle that has deviated from the true teachings of Islam.

Asri said former GISBH members were welcome to undergo their reintegration process in Perlis and the council would conduct the programme if there were many applicants.

“We will invite them for a dialogue session.

“MAIPs is planning to hold dialogue sessions with them. We’ll give them the chance (to reform).

We will also accept other (former) deviant group members in Malaysia.

Asri urged Muslims to help one another and not blame former GISBH members, but instead give them the chance and support their reintegration into society. - FMT
