Johor has become the latest state to be hit by floods, though the situation has improved in Perak, Terengganu and Melaka.

Eleven people from four families were evacuated to a relief centre in Segamat, Johor, while the water level of two rivers in Tangkak and one in Segamat reached “alert” levels.

In Terengganu, the number of evacuees dropped from 398 people at 8am to 250 people at 8pm, with the victims located in Marang, Hulu Terengganu and Dungun.

There was a slight decline in Melaka, with 231 people still being sheltered tonight compared with 264 this morning.

The situation was much better in Perak, with the floods completely receding and the sole relief centre in the district of Larut, Matang and Selama closing in the afternoon. It housed 68 people from 23 families this morning.

In Kelantan, the number of flood evacuees in Bachok remained unchanged at 40 people. Sungai Golok’s water level has dropped slightly but remains above warning levels. - FMT
