All good with DNB, Gobind says amid Fahmi's 'horror' claims

PARLIAMENT | In contrast with the “horrors” Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said he discovered, an audit of Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) found that everything is aboveboard, said Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

He assured the Dewan Rakyat today that he would deal with any discrepancies found.

"After we (the Digital Ministry) took over DNB, we have made it very clear. We conducted our due diligence, this has been done.

"The result showed that there were no issues related to governance, finances and administration, and we are open to any questions asked and will give an answer at any time," said the Damansara MP.

When the share subscription agreement (SSA) was signed with DNB, it along with other companies involved had conducted a process of due diligence, he added.

In his opinion, the process amounted to an audit.

Yesterday, Fahmi said he found irregularities within DNB's dealings when his administration came to power.

He described it as "horrifying and alarming", adding that no one seemed to know what was happening in DNB.

However, he said he could not elaborate as the company now fell under Gobind's portfolio after the latter was appointed as the digital minister in December last year.

In response to Howard Lee's (Harapan-Ipoh Timor) query on what the probe found and whether the MACC was involved, Gobind said he would share a letter from the anti-graft agency with Lee.

In an unrelated matter, Gobind revealed that key appointments to the National AI Office have been made, with over 1,000 applications received.

The office will be launched on Dec 12, he added. - Mkini
