Khalid set to head Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority

Amanah communications director Khalid Abdul Samad will be appointed chairperson of the Kemubu Agricultural Development Authority (Kada), according to a source from the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, the source said the former federal territories minister will replace former Kelantan Pakatan Harapan chairperson Muhammad Husain, who held the position since May last year.

“The appointment letter was handed to Khalid (above) during a ceremony at the Farmers’ Organisation Authority headquarters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

“Khalid’s appointment is expected to take effect on Dec 1,” the source said, declining to be named.

Kada is responsible for advancing the economic and social development of farmers in the Kemubu area to boost their socioeconomic status and national food production.

Muhammad had served as Kada chairperson since May 15 last year, succeeding Bersatu Kelantan chairperson Kamaruddin Md Noor.

When contacted, Muhammad confirmed his tenure will end on Nov 30.

“Yes,” he said briefly without elaborating. - Mkini
