A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck near the west coast of Honshu, Japan on Tuesday, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre said.

The earthquake was at a depth of 8km (5 miles).

No tsunami warning was issued, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported.

There were no immediate reports of damage. - NST
