Influencer claims MCMC 'visited' him again, cries intimidation

Influencer Aliff Ahmad claimed the MCMC tried to intimidate him again by sending a police car to his house last night, hours after he was at the agency’s office to answer questions about a social media post involving former Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar.

In a posting on Facebook, Aliff said MCMC and police officers had visited his house to serve him another notice, purportedly for another investigation involving a different social media post.

“The funny thing was, I was just there (at the MCMC office). They also have my contact number. But instead, they chose to come to my house at night, but I was not home.

“Only after they failed to deliver the notice to me that (MCMC) start calling my phone. (The officer) said they want to summon me the next morning, allegedly over another case. I will update what this one is about.

“They are really trying to use Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 against me. This Madani government is so terrible. They are digging my old (social media) posts to find something they can pin on me,” he said.

In a separate post today, Aliff said he received a call this morning informing him of investigations on four other separate posts.

He said he informed the caller that he would only be free to be at MCMC on Monday, at 11am, for another round of questioning.

Malaysiakini has contacted MCMC and the Communications Ministry for comments.

It was reported that Aliff had gone to the MCMC office yesterday morning, where the influencer was questioned about his offer to conduct an in-depth background check on Nurul Izzah, who is a PKR vice-president and daughter of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Aliff is famous on Facebook for providing background checks on individuals through a system known as “Scrut Analytica”.

The influencer again challenged the authorities to charge him in court.

“This attack won’t weaken me. Instead, I am more determined now to see how they want to abuse power to oppress the weak.

“I hope this case will also go to court. Perhaps many want to see the truth. Let’s go!” - Mkini
