PETALING JAYA:
The Kelantan government has never approved any business licences for vape shops, says state exco Hilmi Abdullah.

Speaking in the state assembly sitting today, the state local government, housing, health and environment committee chairman said the local authorities constantly patrol and carry out enforcement to combat vape sales and advertising activities.

“The Smoking Products Control Act for Public Health 2024 also strictly controls the sales and advertising for all types of products, including vapes,” Bernama quoted him as saying.

Hilmi was replying to Nik Bahrum Nik Abdullah (PAS-Chempaka), who had asked about the steps needed to address the vape shops still operating in the state.

Hilmi said 40 operations were carried out against vape shops in the state last year, with action taken against 67 premises.

“Until March this year, 10 operations have been carried out and action taken against 16 premises,” he said. - FMT
