Police hunt 2nd suspect in Rawang gold chain snatch theft

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are tracking down a man suspected of snatching a gold necklace from a woman along Jalan Maxwell in Rawang on Sunday.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir said the incident occurred at about 5.25pm, when the 45-year-old woman was attacked while getting into her car after shopping.

"The suspect forcefully grabbed the victim's gold chain and tried to escape, but was caught by her husband, a 55-year-old local man, with help from members of the public," he said in a statement.

The victim sustained injuries to her chest and knee during the struggle.

He said two suspects were involved. One, a 31-year-old local man, has been arrested and remanded for seven days to assist in the investigation.

The second suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle and remains at large.

The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt in committing robbery.
