Anwar arrives in South Korea for Apec Summit

 

GYEONGJU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has arrived in Gyeongju, South Korea, to attend the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Summit, which will run from tomorrow to Nov 1.

The aircraft carrying the prime minister and the Malaysian delegation landed at the Gimhae Air Base, Gimhae International Airport in Busan, at 7.41pm local time (6.41pm Malaysia).

He was greeted upon arrival by Kimo Lim of the Apec 2025 Preparatory Office, Gyeongju Deputy Governor Hojun Song,

and Brigadier General Kang Geun Shin, commander of the Korean Air Force's 5th Air Mobility Wing.

Also present to receive Anwar were Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, and Malaysian ambassador to South Korea, Datuk Mohd Zamruni Khalid.

Tomorrow, Anwar is scheduled to deliver Malaysia's statement at the Economic Leaders' Dialogue with Guests, focusing on the importance of inclusivity in strengthening the supply chain, digital economy development, and regional cooperation for sustainable growth.

The prime minister is also scheduled to hold several engagement sessions, including with representatives from Nvidia and YTL Power, followed by a session with the Apec-United States Business Coalition.

He will then hold separate engagements with Namhae Chemical Corp and JS Link.

Namhae Chemical is a South Korean company that produces fertilisers and chemicals. Meanwhile, JS Link is a genome-based biotechnology company focused on genome analysis development and research in South Korea and abroad.

Anwar is then scheduled to attend the Apec Economic Leaders dinner before concluding his visit with a press conference. - NST
