KUALA LUMPUR: All 23 Malaysian Global Sumud Flotilla volunteers who were recently released by Israel after participating in the humanitarian mission are scheduled to arrive home tomorrow night.
The group is expected to depart Istanbul tomorrow morning and arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at night.
The matter was confirmed by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to Buletin Utama.
Meanwhile, Centre for Human Rights Research and Advocacy (Centhra) lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin said all the volunteers are in good condition and ready to return home.
"Two volunteers, Ardell Aryana and Haikal Abdullah, have received follow-up treatment. Ardell suffered a torn shoulder, while Haikal sustained a fractured thumb," he said.
On Thursday, the 23 Malaysian volunteers were detained by Israeli forces after their vessels were intercepted in the R3 Red Zone of the Mediterranean Sea.
They were then taken to the port of Ashdod in Israel.
The GSF mission, comprising more than 500 activists from 45 countries, was en route to Gaza in a show of solidarity and to deliver humanitarian aid, in an effort to break the Israeli blockade on the territory. - NST
