Has ‘sneaky’ MCA supremo Wee sinned graft hating Malaysians with his untimely Bossku chat?

WHILE he did score brownie points from the Bossku fan club for being among the handful non-Malays who appreciate disgraced former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak, his over-friendly gesture by showing up at the Putrajaya Palace of Justice on Boxing Day (Dec 26) has earned flak from the many who loathe the 1MDB scandal.

Although he could just be rendering moral support in a personal capacity to a friend in need, the very fact that MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong was caught on camera catching up for “some 10 minutes” with Bossku who is very much deemed “klepto king” is certainly not a pretty sight to begin with.

Financial portal The Edge even put on record that the five-term Ayer Hitam MP arrived at 8.49am and left once the decision proceedings of the 1MDB-Tanore case began at 9.13am.

To make matters worse, the final outcome in which Bossku was found guilty of all four criminal breach of trust (CBT) and 21 money-laundering charges which culminated in a 15-year jail sentence and a landmark RM11.38 bil fine has made Wee look as if “he’s associating with a big-time crook/plunderer”.

From a political stand-point, Wee’s action could even ve a dis-service to MCA which has in recent times been earning praises for filling in the void in issues whereby Madani-friendly DAP are reluctant to address while only rekindle the role of the latter – albeit nostalgically – in championing the 1MDB cause.

That even UMNO president and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi knew that it is bad optics to be seen in the company of Bossku at this juncture has prompted one Madani critic to wonder if MCA is serious about its on-going talks of leaving BN.

Ticked off for been seen “celebrating a convicted criminal who’s portrayed as the Nation’s biggest robber”, one commenter pointedly asked “what kind of moral values (are) you and @MCAHQ portraying here?” while some passed derogatory remarks such as “Doggie went to see his master to show loyalty 😂”.

However, one MCA veteran FocusM spoke to opined that Wee’s action is sort of expected given “many MCA folks are still loyal with Najib”.

The Chinese ground (except for those who have been radicalised to hate Najib and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor) are actually nostalgic of Najibnomics.

To them it’s economics more than politics as it is now. They used to do well and were more political then prior to getting passionate on UBAH.

Editor’s Note: UBAH (literally “CHANGE”) is DAP’s powerful slogan during the 2018 national polls to bring significant political transformation and good governance to Malaysia by moving away from past corruption and policies.

Now they’re (the Chinese community) seeing the difference and emptiness of those promises by PMX (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) and DAP. To mem Wee is just going for his optics, nothing to do with party or Chinese politics.

But he was caught on camera in a not too “dignified” state and will be a good target 🎯 for DAPist to feed their radicals and re-visit the hatred of yonder days.
