
In the 4.30pm incident, the 59-year-old victim is believed to have died on the way to the hospital due to severe injuries.
The two other injured men are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
It is reported that a group of about 15 men, wearing face masks, attacked the three while they were eating at the restaurant.
Police are continuing investigations into the incident, including identifying the motive behind the attack.
Earlier, several videos went viral on social media showing the injured victims, including one who was in critical condition, believed to have resulted from the attack.
Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail, when contacted by the New Straits Times, confirmed the incident.
"Yes, the incident occurred at 4.30pm and we are investigating it under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
"We are in the process of identifying the suspects involved and the motive behind the attack," he said. - NST
