PETALING JAYA:
Mara has promised to support the education of two children of the Klang crash victim killed when his motorcycle was rammed by a car driven by a man later found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Mara chairman Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the agency decided to take in his two older children – Aqif Amsyar, 9, and Atif Izz Rayqal, 7 – as foster children under its Yayasan Pelajaran Mara programme following the tragedy.

He said Mara would support them until they complete their schooling.

The fatal crash, which occurred on Jalan Raya Barat in Klang on Sunday, involved a Honda City driven by a man under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

It claimed the life of 33-year-old motorcyclist Amirul Hafiz Omar, who leaves behind three young children.

Asyraf said the children would receive a monthly allowance of RM120 each at the primary school level, which would increase to RM150 when they enter secondary school, along with continuous monitoring until they complete their studies.

Malay Mail reported that Amirul’s widow had vowed to seek justice through the courts following the incident.

Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, 32, said she intended to take legal action on behalf of her three children, aged between two and nine, who lost their father and main source of income.

“I will take action. I have to fight for justice for my children. I will sue. There must be a heavy punishment – prison is not enough,” she said, reported Malay Mail.

A dashcam video clip posted online showed an overtaking car in the opposite lane crashing into an oncoming motorcyclist, sending Amirul flying into the air and landing on top of another vehicle.

The suspect has been remanded until Thursday. - FMT
