Psychiatric reports to be used in Zara inquest

 

Kota Kinabalu: The legal team representing Zara Qairina Mahathir’s mother has received psychiatric reports from the Health Ministry’s specialists at Bukit Padang for use in the ongoing inquest.

Lead counsel Shahlan Jufri said the team received the 84-page reports on March 5 and confirmed that the psychiatrists will testify at the inquest on Thursday.

“The psychiatrists will testify this Thursday, but our team will apply for additional time to question this specialist as we need time to review the reports and discuss them with our own specialist,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Shahlan said the reports were prepared following interviews with Zara’s parents and several others, adding that the team also intends to apply to call additional deponents, including a medical officer who first treated Zara.

He added that the list of proposed deponents would be revealed on Wednesday and that the 65th child witness had only given her police statement this year after previously sharing the matter with her mother before Ramadan. - dailyexpresssabah
