A woman was shocked that her Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) petrol subsidy appeared to be used by someone else when she attempted to purchase petrol in Sepang last Thursday.
Sharina Azirah Ismali, 39, said her transaction was rejected multiple times when she wanted to refuel before departing from Selangor to Johor.
“At the time, I had just arrived from Kedah and wanted to fill up for the journey to Kulai. When I couldn’t use Budi95, I checked and was shocked to find that this month’s subsidy quota had already been exhausted.
“In fact, I rarely use it because I seldom refuel my car. I always use public transport to commute to and from work.
“So I found it strange that my Budi95 quota was finished,” she said when contacted by Malaysiakini.

More shockingly, she said a check revealed several Budi95 transactions had been made using her quota six times since January in petrol stations around Perlis.
“It is quite worrying because I have never lost my MyKad, and I was not even in Perlis on the dates those transactions were made. So how could another party use my Budi95?
“Furthermore, the Budi95 transactions made in Perlis involved large quantities of petrol,” Sharina said.
She added that among the purchases made were RM82.64 for 41.525 litres and RM250 for 125.627 litres on March 22.
These were followed by a final transaction of RM150 for 34.48 litres on March 23 in Padang Besar.

Police report and complaint lodged
Following this, Sharina lodged a report at the Kelapa Sawit police station in Kulai on March 27.
“I also made a complaint to the Budi Madani customer service via phone call and email, but there has been no further development so far.
“So I had to buy petrol without the subsidy since the Budi95 quota was finished,” she said.
Sharina hoped the authorities would investigate her case immediately to track down those responsible.
“I hope the public can check their respective Budi95 quotas to ensure cases like mine do not recur,” she added.
Malaysiakini has contacted Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Armizan Ali for a response regarding the case. - Mkini
