Elderly man caught on CCTV allegedly stealing undergarments

THERE ARE many crimes that cause concern in neighbourhoods. House break-ins, vehicle theft and vandalism usually top the list.

But every now and then, an incident emerges that leaves people equally disturbed and bewildered, raising the uncomfortable question of what exactly motivates such behaviour in the first place.

A recent social media post featuring CCTV footage of an elderly man allegedly stealing women’s panties and undergarments from a neighbouring house has sparked widespread discussion online, with reactions ranging from disgust to disbelief.

According to the post, the man was caught on camera approaching a house and allegedly helping himself to the laundry before leaping out of the house.

While thieves are often associated with valuables, electronics or cash, this particular incident belongs to a far stranger category of wrongdoing.

“The guys now are so weird,” said @VKhan1992 in the comment section while @Bigsnorlax1985 added that it was frightening to see perverts at such an age.

“Hello, uncle. Check the CCTV before making crime. Now you are viral,” said @Juniverse.

Then there was @luoyiyah advising all the ladies to dry their clothes in the house to avoid being subjected to black magic.

Netizen @Janggolah was straight to the point:

In psychology, a fetish refers to sexual interest or arousal connected to specific objects or materials. Clothing, shoes and undergarments may become part of such interests for some individuals.

Importantly, having a fetish by itself does not automatically indicate a psychiatric disorder or criminal tendency.

According to psychiatric understanding, behaviour may fall under concern when sexual gratification becomes tied to trespassing, theft, privacy invasion or repeated inability to control urges.

This dirty, old uncle certainly qualifies. The brief video did not reveal if he was nabbed by the authorities or whether he remains free.

But one thing is certain. We do not want to know what he does to those stolen undergarments. — Focus Malaysia
