23 injured after tour bus turns on its side at roundabout near Sibu

 All injured victims receive medical treatment at the scene before being sent to Sibu Hospital and Kanowit Hospital for further care.

PETALING JAYA:
Twenty-three of 43 passengers were injured when a tour bus went out of control and landed on its side at the Kanowit/Durin roundabout on the Pan Borneo Highway in Sibu, Sarawak, early this morning.

A spokesman for the Sarawak fire and rescue department said they received an emergency call at 2.25am, Bernama reported.

Firefighters from Sibu were dispatched to the accident scene 22km away.

Of the 23 injured, 19 were women.

The spokesman said firefighters helped remove a female passenger still inside the bus to safety. Members of the public had helped the others out of the bus before the firefighters arrived.

All injured victims received initial medical treatment at the scene before being sent to Sibu Hospital and Kanowit Hospital for further care.

The accident took place at the same roundabout where Sabah State Courts director Marutin Pagan was killed in an accident on March 30, 2025. - FMT
