Anwar back home after surgery; works minister to retire from Parliament in next election

  • Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has been discharged from hospital after undergoing elective abdominal hernia surgery.

    He shared a photo on Facebook of himself reading from his home office last night with the caption “Alhamdulillah, back home”.

  • Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi plans to stop contesting for the Kapit parliamentary seat, which he has held since 1999.

    Instead, he intends to contest in a new state seat in the constituency should Sarawak’s electoral redelineation process be completed before the next state election.

    “I feel it is time we gave the younger generation a chance in Parliament,” he was quoted as saying by the New Straits Times yesterday, adding that he would like to focus on state-level development going forward. - Mkini
