PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said he has approved his daughter Nurul Izzah’s request for temporary leave from her role as the party’s deputy president because she had “strong reasons” for doing so.
Speaking to reporters after Friday prayers in Malacca, the prime minister said Nurul Izzah will remain active within PKR.
"She has a special programme outside (the party) for a while, so I can accept it. But she is still active in the party," Sinar Harian quoted him as saying.
Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul reportedly said that PKR’s Subang MP Wong Chen has expressed a desire to resign.
According to Berita Harian, he said Wong proposed to resign as MP when they met on Wednesday and gave his reasons for doing so.
However, Johari did not state whether Wong had tendered anything in writing.

“The important thing is, I delivered my letter to him. I will release a press statement next Monday,” Wong said, without disclosing the contents of the letter.
The Shah Alam High Court has set aside the bankruptcy order against Selat Klang assemblyperson Abdul Rashid Asari, ending speculation of a by-election in Selangor.
Based on documents sighted, Malaysia Gazette reported that Rashid successfully applied to set aside the bankruptcy order under Section 105 of the Insolvency Act 1967.
The decision to quash the bankruptcy order was issued by Shah Alam High Court deputy registrar Nur Hafizah Rajuni during proceedings today after the court examined Rashid's supporting affidavit and heard submissions from lawyers representing all parties, including the director-general of the Insolvency Department.
Rashid had filed the application against the Employees Provident Fund Board.
The Immigration Department has dismantled a “flying passport” syndicate after the arrest of three suspects at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Johor.
According to Bernama, Immigration director-general Zakaria Shaaban said the suspects, aged between 33 and 41, were detained for allegedly violating Section 12(1)(h) of the Passport Act 1966.
In a statement today, he said the operation yesterday resulted in the seizure of immigration security stamps, RM20,000 in cash, mobile phones, jewellery, and the keys to an unnamed premises. - Mkini
