Cops confirm goldsmith shop robbery at Genting Highlands mall

Pahang police have confirmed that a goldsmith shop at a shopping centre in Genting Highlands was robbed today.

Acting Pahang police chief Azry Akmar Ayob said the robbery is believed to have occurred at about noon and that police are investigating the matter.

“We are still compiling the case facts. We will share any further developments,” Bernama quoted him as saying.

Photographs and videos showing the robbery’s aftermath went viral on social media. In a video, two men dressed in black can be seen running through the shopping centre carrying a large sack.

Threads user @nia.naas claimed that the area had come under a temporary lockdown following the robbery.

“It will be hard for the robbers to escape the Genting area. Every road down has a checkpoint. Police will definitely catch them,” she said.

User @j00raaaa said traffic had built up around Genting Highlands because of the lockdown, while user @faridaspar claimed police officers were carrying out inspections of vehicles leaving the resort. - FMT
