PETALING JAYA:
The Election Commission will publicly display 17 new Sarawak state seats from tomorrow, with notices to be put up at various locations in each parliamentary constituency.

The notices will be put up for a month and will also display the proposed new names for several existing constituencies, Borneo Post reported.

The 17 new constituencies will raise the number of seats in the Sarawak assembly from 82 to 99 following the EC’s redelineation exercise.

The public display will allow constituents to submit objections or representations concerning the proposed constituencies to the EC.

However, it is unlikely that the new seats would be gazetted in time for the next Sarawak state election, which is expected to be held before the year ends. - FMT
