Kuching hit by thunderstorms, flash flood and fallen trees

 

KUCHING: The capital city was hit by heavy rain and thunderstorms, causing flash flooding in several areas and fallen trees to block roads.

As of 5:00 pm, the Malaysian Meteorological Department reported that thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds were expected in parts of Sarawak, including Kuching, Serian (Serian and Siburan), Samarahan (Samarahan, Simunjan, Asajaya and Gedong), and Kapit (Song) until 9:00 pm tonight.

In Kuching, several roads were blocked by fallen trees following strong winds. The heavy downpour also caused flash flooding in several residential areas.

Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.

Those affected by the heavy rain and thunderstorms are advised to contact the emergency services immediately. - Sarawak Tribune
