PETALING JAYA:
A factory in Kulai, Johor, has been ordered to close temporarily after it was found flying the Jalur Gemilang and the Johor flag upside down.

Johor housing and local government committee chairman Jafni Shukor said the state viewed the incident seriously as both flags represent the identity, dignity and sovereignty of the country and state.

He said the incident could not be brushed off as a minor error and had to be addressed.

The Kulai municipal council closed the factory pending an explanation from the company.

Jafni said both flags were immediately repositioned correctly following the discovery, and the Kulai district officer is coordinating with the council and other agencies to ensure appropriate action is taken.

“Action must be taken without fear or favour if there is any breach of the law or licensing conditions,” he was quoted by Berita Harian as saying.

Jafni warned businesses and industrial operators across Johor to ensure flags are displayed correctly and responsibly, saying carelessness was no excuse for failing to show proper respect for state and national symbols. - FMT
