Nga hopes ‘red heroes’ will be found safe soon

The housing and local government ministry is working closely with Wisma Putra to locate two Malaysian fire and rescue department officials who remain uncontactable following the devastating flash floods in Rasuwa, Nepal.

Its minister, Nga Kor Ming, said they were making every effort to trace the two men, who are among more than 50 Malaysians still unaccounted for.

“I ask all Malaysians to pray for the safety of our two ‘red heroes’ who have yet to be traced. We hope they are safe and will be found soon,” he said after officiating the Jom Makan Ipoh Expo here last night.

Nga said the ministry, through the fire and rescue department, was keeping in close contact with the families of the duo.

The two men – Mohd Sani Harul, the deputy director at the planning and research division at the department’s headquarters, and Mohd Fakhrul Munir Mohd Isa, who is with the department’s Central Region Academy – were reported to be among 10 Malaysians who departed for Nepal on Monday night as part of a trip to Everest Base Camp.
