PUTRAJAYA: Participants of large-scale RXZ Members motoring events will be required to register online and provide proof of valid driving licences, road tax and insurance coverage for their motorcycles.
Road Transport Department senior enforcement director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said organisers had been instructed to establish an online registration platform as part of measures to improve road safety and strengthen risk management for the event.
Participants must hold valid driving licences, while registered motorcycles must have valid road tax and insurance coverage.
"They will also be required to submit four photographs of the motorcycle being registered, showing the front and rear registration plates, as well as the left and right sides of the motorcycle," he said.
Kifli chaired an engagement session with RXZ Members organisers at the RTD Enforcement Division headquarters here yesterday.
He said the session served as a platform to discuss road safety and improvements to risk management, particularly for large-scale motoring events.
He said the session focused on improving risk management before, during and after large-scale motoring events, including verifying the eligibility of riders and vehicles, managing participant movements and conducting targeted enforcement against offences that posed a high risk to road users.
He said cooperation with highway concessionaires and the Malaysian Highway Authority would also be important in implementing Travel Time Advisory (TTA) measures to improve traffic flow and road safety.
"RTD has also recommended a phased approach beginning with early engagement, education and awareness, followed by firm enforcement action where necessary.
"Close cooperation between organisers, RTD, police and relevant technical agencies is also important to ensure events are conducted in an orderly, safe and responsible manner," he said.
The engagement session was also attended by the Pahang, Melaka and Terengganu RTD directors, senior RTD headquarters officers and representatives from its Corporate, Automotive Engineering and Road Safety divisions.
Representatives from Terengganu police, Kuala Terengganu City Council, Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros), Department of Environment, Social Security Organisation (Socso) and the RXZ Members organisers were also present.
Kifli said RTD supported motoring community activities conducted in an orderly and responsible manner, but public safety, compliance with the law and protection of road users' lives remained its priorities.
He said RTD would continue engagement sessions with relevant agencies and event organisers.
On Tuesday, it was reported that the RTD would hold an engagement session with RXZ Members organisers at its headquarters in Putrajaya to discuss safety measures and improvements to the event.
The meeting was the first between the department and the event organisers and aimed to gather their feedback while proposing enhancements to ensure the programme runs smoothly and road users' safety is prioritised. - NST
