Selangor key to toppling PH at federal level, says Sanusi

PAS wants to make Selangor the starting point for toppling Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the state and subsequently at the federal level in the 16th general election, says Sanusi Nor.

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) election director said Selangor is a crucial state as it is a key economic powerhouse for the country.

“If PH falls in Selangor, PH will fall at the federal level,” he said when speaking at a Selangor PAS election machinery gathering at the Selangor PAS complex here last night.

Sanusi, who is also the Kedah menteri besar, also urged the public to assess PH based on its performance in government, rather than merely on political slogans.

“Compare it with the performance of previous governments. What has PH achieved? They should show us what they have done while in power.”

Analysts previously said the Barisan Nasional-Perikatan Nasional pact could pose a challenge to PH’s dominance in Selangor, especially if the two coalitions manage to consolidate Malay votes.

PH won 32 of the 56 state seats in the 2023 Selangor state election while PN won 22. BN won the remaining two seats, with PH and BN subsequently forming the state government.

Last month, Selangor PKR Youth deputy chief Shahrul Adnan urged the state PH leadership to review its political cooperation with BN following BN-PN’s cooperation in the Aug 1 Negeri Sembilan state election. - FMT
