A soldier was accidentally shot by a colleague at a firing range in Sungai Menyala, Port Dickson, yesterday, resulting in injuries to his face.

Negeri Sembilan deputy police chief Nasharudin Shariff said the incident occurred at about 2.15pm when the victim, who is in his 20s, and several other personnel were taking part in a shooting practice.

“The victim was taken to Port Dickson Hospital before being transferred to Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital here for further treatment.

“He is reported to be in stable condition,” he said in a statement today.

A man in his 20s was subsequently detained under Section 37 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 337 of the Penal Code to assist with investigations. - FMT
