U Mobile launches Enterprise Innovation Platform hub

 The hub will bring together various parties, including enterprises, tech companies and academia, to mitigate risks and accelerate technology adoption.

U Mobile officially launched its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP) hub to help companies develop, test and demonstrate 5G-Advanced (5G-A) and AI-enabled solutions.

U Mobile CEO Wong Heang Tuck said the hub will bring together enterprises, tech companies, academia, advisers and public sector stakeholders in a bid to “reduce implementation risks, accelerate technology adoption and deliver meaningful business outcomes faster”.

“We want to create an environment where organisations can confidently explore new technologies, develop practical solutions and scale innovations that create measurable business outcomes.

“As digital adoption accelerates across every sector, collaboration between government, industry, academia and technology partners will become even more important,” he said at the launch today.

‘Luka’ an AI-powered humanoid assistant, was showcased at the launch of the EIP hub.

Communications minister Fahmi Fadzil was also in attendance.

At the launch, the EIP hub showcased its in-house implementations, demonstrating practical enterprise applications of 5G-A and AI.

The technologies include 5G- and AI-driven visual intelligence for real-time operational monitoring, as well as 5G drone patrolling and data capture for autonomous inspection and surveillance.

Fahmi also noted that Malaysia has made advancements in its digital infrastructure and economy. With that, he said the EIP hub will help foster innovation and attract investment.

“The hub represents an industry-led initiative that complements the government’s efforts to accelerate enterprise digital transformation by bringing together enterprises, technology providers, innovators, academia, and the public sector.”

Fahmi added that the hub establishes a collaborative ecosystem that will accelerate the adoption of 5G- and AI-driven applications that enhance productivity, strengthen competitiveness and unlock new sources of economic growth.

“This is exactly the type of public-private collaboration that Malaysia needs as we continue to build a stronger digital economy,” he said. - FMT
