This follows the attendance by an Umno delegation at the opening of PAS’s 72nd muktamar in Kota Bharu today, led by party secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.

Hadi first attended Umno’s general assembly in 2019, shortly after PAS and Umno formalised their political cooperation under the now-defunct Muafakat Nasional.
In a Facebook post today, Asyraf said he hoped the two largest Malay-Muslim parties in the country can continue efforts to “unite and cooperate”.
“What is important is the sincerity and trust of both sides,” he said.
Asyraf led an Umno delegation at the opening of PAS’s 72nd muktamar in Kota Bharu today after Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was unable to attend due to “unavoidable reasons”.
The last time Umno leaders attended PAS’s annual meeting was in 2019, when Umno and PAS were allies in MN.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan previously said Umno leaders were invited to this year’s gathering as the party viewed Umno as a strategic partner.
This follows the BN-PN alliance’s win in the recent Negeri Sembilan election.
PAS currently chairs PN. - FMT
