Johari, Piyush Goyal discuss stronger Malaysia-India economic ties

NEW DELHI: Investment, trade and economic cooperation between Malaysia and India were the focus of a bilateral meeting between Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and India's Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal during Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's visit to New Delhi.

Johari said the productive and constructive discussion focused on concrete measures to strengthen trade, investment and economic cooperation between Malaysia and India.

"We share a strong commitment to addressing outstanding matters and ensuring Malaysia-India economic relations continue to advance positively and mutually benefit both countries," he said in a Facebook post.

Johari said he looked forward to further strengthening ties with Goyal to deepen bilateral economic cooperation, expand trade and create more opportunities for the business communities of both countries.

Anwar is in India from Sept 11 to 15 for engagements in New Delhi and Keralam.

Anwar arrived in New Delhi on Friday to attend the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Following the completion of his visit to Keralam, the prime minister is scheduled to depart for the Maldives on Sept 14. - NST
